Shweta Gupta picked up her first henna cone as a young girl, and never put it down. Today she is an internationally certified mehandi artist whose work travels from Birgunj's wedding halls to clients across the border, one pair of hands at a time.
In 2011 she opened the doors of Shri Radhe Krishan Mehandi Training Centre with one belief: the art that gave her an identity could give thousands of women theirs. More than 7,500 students later, her classroom is still full, and many of her students now take their own bridal bookings.
Her signature? Photo-to-henna portraits. Hand her a photograph, a wedding picture, a grandmother, a whole family, and she redraws it in henna with a fineness that makes people check the phone twice.
